disAbility Solutions for Independent Living, Inc. (DSIL) is a non-profit, 50IC(3) agency run by a Board of Directors (BOD) where more than 51% are people with disabilities. The BOD promotes the independence of people with disabilities through empowerment and the support of Independent Living services. disAbility Solutions, Inc. promotes the application of all disability rights laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
Using the services of an Independent Living Center, persons with disabilities can reach their highest level of self-actualization and productivity consistent with freedom of choice and control.
Services are available to people with disabilities who meet the following criteria:
1) Has a physical, mental, cognitive or sensory impairment that substantially limits one or more of the individual's major life activities;
DSIL's mission is to maximize the leadership, empowerment, independence and productivity of individuals with disabilities, in order to promote and attain integration and full inclusion of individuals with disabilities in all aspects of our society. This is accomplished through consumer control, peer counseling, education, self-determination, equal access and individual and systems advocacy.
DSIL's goal is to have equal access to education, employment, transportation, housing and communication through independent community living. disAbility Solutions, Inc. serves Volusia and Flagler Counties and is a non-residential program.
